Lacrosse

Beyond my animal experiences, one of my greatest passions is lacrosse.  My passion for the sport began in the fourth grade when I joined the only lacrosse team in the area: a boy’s recreational team.  I played on a local girl’s team, once it was established, through middle school, and was selected to the Varsity squad my freshman year of high school.  I earned All-Area and All-State honors throughout my high school career, and decided to continue my career at The College of New Jersey.  Playing at TCNJ has been an amazing experience, as we have reached semi-final and quarter-final rounds in the NCAA tournament.  I have been honored to have been selected as a First Team All-American (2009, 2010), the 2009-2010 Honda Division III Athlete of the Year nominee representing lacrosse, and the U.S. Lacrosse Magazine Division III Preseason Player of the Year for 2010.

My dedication to the varsity lacrosse program at The College of New Jersey has prepared me for future challenges.  As a First Team Collegiate All-American on a top ranked team, my opponents target me on the field.  I have learned to maintain my equanimity and perform up to expectations.  Not only am I driven and self-motivated, I know the importance of group dynamics to work toward a common goal. From freshman year, my teammates have respected my work ethic, “team first” attitude, and competitiveness.  Commitment to a team goal, refusing to retreat from a challenge, and a deep passion for my work are characteristics I can apply to my veterinary education and profession.
